This page is for prospective students who want to know if I have any funded research assistantship positions, or need my opinion about their chances of admission to USC.
Please read below for the sections that apply to you.
MS Students
If you are a seeking admission to the MS program at USC and would like to know if I offer research assistantships to MS students, I don't, sorry.
If you'd like to enroll in directed research units with me, I'd encourage you to take one of my classes before asking me about this.
If you have taken a class with me, and you need a directed research for a summer internship at a company, feel free to come talk to me during my office hours, which are usually posted on my website. You should come prepared to discuss the project you will be doing, and how it relates to the class you took with me.
If you have taken a class with me and you'd like to do unfunded directed research in my lab, feel free come talk to me during my office hours, which are usually posted on my website. I may not have any opportunities, but I may be able to recommend you to colleagues who might be looking for a directed research student.
Ph.D. students
If you are applying to the Ph.D. program at USC and would like to know your chances of admission to the CS department, my usual answer is: "Please apply". The admissions committee looks at the pool of applicants and decisions are made based on the overall quality of applicants as well as matches with faculty interests. Given this, it is hard to make any meaningful judgement about your chances.
If you have been admitted to USC and would like to join my research group, please feel free to drop by my office hours or send me email to set up an appointment. I'd be happy to discuss any openings I have in my group, or discuss with you about other research groups that you might consider.
